Collecting Star Wars Memorabilia

By mogsta22

Collecting various items has been a pastime probably for as long as mankind has been here; the ancient Egyptians collected gems and whatnot; the caveman probably collected leaves or something. Now, of course, people collect everything from stamps to baseball cards to artwork, but nothing is quite as much fun to the sci-fi fan as collecting Star Wars memorabilia. There is plenty of it out there to collect; that?s for sure, but the more unusual and pristine, of course, the better. Collecting Star Wars memorabilia can be exciting, fun, and possibly even profitable. Did you know that one of the original Luke figures recently sold for thousands of dollars? For someone who probably spent about ten bucks on it way back when, that was a pretty darn good investment.
Collecting Star Wars memorabilia is quite the hot topic among a lot of folks these days, and there is good reason. The popularity of the movie that launched us all into a galaxy far, far away could almost be called a frenzy, and the types of collectibles out there range from the simple-and-at-the-time rather unsuccessful Micro Collection, to apparel like hats and t-shirts, to toys sold exclusively at Sears or JCPenney, to coffee mugs, to sheet sets. In fact, no matter what the item, there is probably one somewhere with a Star Wars theme. Of course, part of the fun is hunting down and finding those sought-after items. Ebay and other auction sites can be a treasure trove of items for collectors, as can yard sales and more official sites like collectible catalogs and auction houses. Of course, one famous saying is, ?Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.? But, to all collectors, it is important to make sure you know what you are getting; unless your goal is to actually collect fakes, you need to be careful of authenticity.
There are numerous websites dedicated to sharing knowledge about cool Star Wars stuff, too. Gus Lopez, Tom Neiheisel, and other folks all over the globe have a great time collecting and contributing to the Internet so the Star Wars fans all over can have a place to meet, swap stories, and see the latest additions to collections. Whether your particular niche is coin sets, action figures, anything related to Princess Leigha, prototypes of various sorts, or t-shirts, there is no denying the draw of Star Wars and collecting Star Wars memorabilia lets us all remember and say, ?Hey, that was so cool, when??
